Milnor Lutheran Church

Organized June 6, 1885 as Milnor Scandinavian Lutheran Free Church Society.  C. G. Seltveit was called as the first Pastor.  The first church was built in 1886 for $5,000.  The basement was added in 1921 for $3,500.  Four parsonages have been owned by the congregation during its history with the present parsonage built in 1959.  Two years later, ground breaking ceremonies were held for the present day church building.
A fellowship hall that is handicapped accessible was added in 1998.  Milnor Lutheran Congregation has enjoyed partnership in the Gospel with Concordia and Immanuel Lutheran Churches for many years.  When Concordia closed, many members came to town, others to Immanuel.

Since the closing of DeLamere Lutheran in October 1998, Milnor and Immanuel have been in partnership and are now a 2-point parish..

Immanuel Congregation was officially organized at a meeting held January 4, 1883, at the home of Kristoffer Nummedal.  The congregation was called the “Immanuel-Norsk-Evangelical Lutheran Congregation.”

Before the present church was built in 1899, the congregation met for worship in homes or in various granaries, whoever had one empty with sufficient space.  The church basement was added in 1922.  The present sacristy, chancel extension and restrooms were added in 1966.

Immanuel remained unaffiliated with any Synod until 1902 when it joined with “Den Forenede Kirke” (The United Norwegian Lutheran Church in America).  This Synod merged in 1917 to become the Norwegian Lutheran Church in America, later called the Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Immanuel partnered with DeLamere as a parish in the 1960s.
