City Water, Sewer, and Garbage

Water, sewer and garbage is billed by the city around the
middle of each month.  Homeowners are requested to read
their water meters each month rounding the total gallons to
the nearest 500th gallon used and write the reading down on
the return stub provided.

Payments may be made by mail to PO Box 70 Milnor, ND
58060 or left in one of the drop boxes at the City Hall
(located at 408 Main Street) or at Milnor Jack & Jill.

City Water

Milnor_075
In 1992, the city received a new water system through a
90% grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Prior to that, water was supplied from seven artesian wells
located throughout the city.

The city purchases its water from Southeast Water Users of
Mantador, ND and is held in a water reservoir located just
outside of city limits.

City water rates are as follows:
$15.00 for the first 1,000 gallons (minimum charge)
$4.74 for each 1,000 gallons up to 10,000 gallons
$3.24 for each 1,000 gallons after 10,000 gallons

City Sewer

Monthly sewer rates are $14.00.

Garbage

The City of Milnor garbage pickup is on Tuesdays, unless
it is a holiday. Garbage must be bagged or boxed and placed
in the alley or in front of your residence, depending upon the
common practice on your street.

Large items must be hauled by the homeowner to the city's
inert landfill. Other items that will not be picked up with
regular garbage include lawn/garden waste, tree branches,
shingles, cement, sheetrock or metal. Paint cans can
be left with household garbage if they are empty and the covers
are left off. If you need to dispose of paint cans that are not empty,
you need to mix the paint with cat litter and leave outside with
the lid off until it dries up.  Once the paint is
dry, you can leave it in your household garbage.

The monthly garbage rate is $20.00.

City Landfill

The city operates an inert landfill for items not considered
household waste. Some of the items that are accepted at the
landfill include trees and tree branches, old furniture, shingles,
old building materials, washers and dryers.

There is a $10.00 charge for refrigerators and air conditioners,
as the freon has to be removed from them. The landfill cannot
accept plastic or brown goods, which are items with a closed circuitry,
such as TV's, microwaves, radios, computers etc.
