As a professional student in veterinary school, I lived in St. Paul, MN and although the hustle and bustle was exciting, I never quite fit in having grown up in a west central MN farming/lake town. I moved to ND after graduation, and quickly settled in to the speed of life and appreciated the proximity to Fargo, but the endless access to the Sheyenne National Grasslands, Fort Ransom State Park, Tewauken Wildlife Refuge and the Sheyenne River right out my back door. As we started a family, the natural scenery has been a backdrop to my kids' childhood and we enjoy the outdoors year-round. Living on a ranch in the Grasslands is wonderful, but when I wanted to start my own veterinary practice, I sought out a community that embraced our family in the school system, and shared a common interest of small town sustainability by supporting local businesses just like mine.  Milnor fit the bill. With tons of local support at my work and the kids school, I feel we made the perfect choice. We have a wonderful grocery store, superb electricians, plumbers, and a local implement for our farm equipment needs, supportive banking options, excellent building contractors, as well a daycares, salon professionals, and up-and-coming business models like Dakota Dirt Coffee. Our access to utilities and internet has been flawless as that is extremely important in my field. We have local healthcare, and the roads are well-maintained here, unlike the potholes and snow removal nightmare in the city.
